The Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) Identification Bill went down to the wire as parliamentarians voted for an amendment to Section 3(2) of the Act.
However, the government with a majority of only one (48 to 47) voted it through.Critics have described the legislation as a disaster for legal and human rights. Opposition political parties, civil society and the Bar Council have slammed the bill for placing excessive powers in the hands of the police and the home minister.

Let me remind all Malaysians (Opposition supporters or BN supporters!) The very same bill that U support can be the smoking gun that kills you as well!!
However, having said that I am also very disappointed with the PKR rep that fail to attend Parliament to block this legislation.

You are too emotional. Before the enactment of the DNA Act, DNA evidences were not admissible as proof.
Today, with the DNA bill, Malaysia will be able to use DNA evidences as a core deciding factor in justice in all forensic related crime.
Also, a clause providing that DNA evidence introduced in court is conclusive has been dropped from the final version of the controversial Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) Identification Bill 2008.
It has to be corroborated now. It is no longer conclusive as stated earlier.
The bill will enable Police to use Anwar old DNA to prosecute him.
Basically the bill will give Police too much power to the police without proper accountability!
That is why many civil society and even the Bar Council have slammed the bill for placing excessive powers in the hands of the police and the home minister.
