Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz commented on the Bar Council's decision to sue the government over the detention of five lawyers at the Brickfields police station for discharging their duty.
"The decision by the Bar Council to sue the government over the May 7 detention of five legal aid lawyers is an attempt to intimidate the enforcement authorities from discharging their duties."
Hello...Nazri, wake up! If the police have kept to the rule of law when discharging their duties they would not have detained these lawyers who were there to play their role.
He said it also showed that the legal practitioners themselves wanted to undermine the country’s legal system.
Suing the government means undermining the country's legal system? Detaining lawyers who were discharging their duties is really undermining the rule of law and the legal system.
“The Bar Council is supposed to be a role model. If police enforce the law and among those caught are their (Bar Council) members, they have to accept it. We have the judiciary. Let the court decides whether the five lawyers are guilty or not."
Yes Nazri, this what the Bar Council is doing by taking the government to court!!
