Another stupid law pass in the middle of the night!
I wonder why?
(May 20, 2012): The recently passed Evidence (Amendment) (No 2) Act 2012, whereby internet users are held liable for any content posted through their registered networks or data processing device, is both unfair and an attempt to put fear in people, says civil society.
The amended law will have serious repercussions on internet use as the owner of the site or device is presumed guilty and has to fight to prove his innocence, they say.
What this means is, if an anonymous person posts content said to be offensive on your Facebook wall, or if someone piggybacks your WiFi account and uploads a controversial document, you will be immediately deemed the publisher of the content and subject to prosecution under the relevant laws such as the Sedition Act.
Not only that, if a person starts a blog in your name and publishes content that is red-flagged, you will be considered the publisher unless you can prove otherwise.
Does someone have to die first before Najib says something?
19 May 2012 - Slipping out of national consciousness since last year’s by-election, the small town of Merlimau, Malacca was thrust back into the limelight last Saturday following a fracas where opposition assemblypersons were attacked with stones and eggs.
According to Malacca PAS commissioner Adly Zahari, the flashpoint was when an Indian woman started speaking at the high-tea event, triggering a “gatecrash” attempt by protesters.
The roughly 200 people, mostly youths, protested against the presence of Bersih co-chairperson Ambiga Sreneevasan at Taman Seri Merlimau for a high-tea event organised by the local PAS Supporters Club.
21 May 2012 - A Pakatan Rakyat ceramah in a community hall in Pekan Bangi, Selangor was disrupted on Monday night by a group of alleged stone-throwing thugs.
Serdang MP Teo Nie Ching (right) said in a press release that the incident happened at about 11pm when PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu took the stage.
Teo, who was among the speakers at the event, said that a group of about 30 people started pelting stones and taunting the security detail at the event.
This resulted in the windows of one vehicle being damaged.
Contacted for details, Serdang PAS division deputy chief Mazwan Johar said there were no injuries.
He noted that apart from the car, other casualties included a big banner for the event and two PAS flags which were burnt.
24 May 2012 - Stones and eggs were again thrown at a Pakatan Rakyat ceramah, causing one senior citizen to suffer injuries to the head.
The man was bleeding from his head and barely conscious when taken away to seek medical attention.
The incident happened at about 11pm, when PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim was speaking at a ceramah at Apartment Pantai Permai, Kuala Lumpur, which is within the PKR-held constituency of Lembah Pantai.
According to eyewitnesses, the projectile was hurled into the crowd from an Umno function at the Pantai Dalam Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) quarters next door.
This happened about 30 minutes after the power supply for the event was cut, allegedly sabotaged, but hastily restored with some tape.
Despite the disruptions, the ceramah was able to proceed as participants remained calm and allowed Anwar to finish his speech.
Fist-sized flying brick
Another projectile victims was 12-year-old Nurul Balqis, who was struck by a fist-sized flying brick on her wrist.
Her mother Adita Ketek told reporters that the doctor who inspected her arm had asked her to seek further medical inspection because her wrist might be broken.
Following the ugly incidents, a group of PKR supporters marched towards some 200 Umno supporters, who are no more than 20 meters away, while police rushed in to intervene.
However, with only a brick-and-mortar fence separating the opposing groups, the PKR supporters continued to be pelted with stones and water bottles for some time.
Earlier, at about 9pm, some 80 people in red shirts gathered outside the PKR ceramah venue and chanted "Tibai (whack)", which is the acronym of a newly formed anti-Anwar group.
25 May 2012 - Vandals struck at an opposition ceramah again, this time at an event featuring former Perak MB Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin in Kuals Kangsar, at which 11 cars were splashed with blue paint.
The Bukit Gantang MP said he was addressing an audience of about 400 at a PAS ceramah in Kampung Sayong Lembah in Kuala Kangsar yesterday when he received a slip of paper informing him of the incident.
“I was told that the cars were splashed with blue paint. The paint was splashed mostly on the headlights,” Nizar (left) told Malaysiakini when contacted.
The organisers and the owners of the vehicles have lodged police reports on the matter, he said.
One of the organisers, who did not want to be named, said prior to that paint spalshing, a small group of motorcyclists disrupted the ceramah.
“An Umno ceramah was also going, on about 200m from our venue. Just before Nizar arrived, some of those from Umno were revving their motorcycle engines,” said the Kuala Kangsar PAS member.
“Just before the ceramah started about 9pm, they were stopping people on the way there and asking if they were attending the Umno ceramah or PAS’,” he added.
He claimed that the Umno members were “trying to provoke” those who were coming to the PAS ceramah.
25 May 2012 - Pakatan leaders moved on to the second and last ceramah of the night in Pasir Gudang - about 90 minutes west of Pengerang - three vehicles suddenly appeared on the highway and attempted to bump Anwar's car off the road, claimed Tian Chua.
"A few cars tried to cut off Anwar's vehicle and created a dangerous situation, our vehicles had to move forward to help him," he said.
Asked if this was a mere coincidence, Tian Chua (right) replied: "It was deliberate, the cars deliberately tried to block him (Anwar) off, this was a clear attempt to intimidate us."
31 May 2012 - Selangor DAP state committee member V Ganapathirao and his brother Raidu, who are leading the Hindraf splinter group Malaysian Indian Voice (MIV), suffered bone fractures after three BN supporters assaulted them in Klang last night.
Ganapathirao told Malaysiakini this morning that the assailants armed with a car steering lock and metal objects attacked the duo at a road junction at Taman Mutiara.
Resulting from the 10-minute attack, Ganapathirao (centre in photo, with Papparaidu at right) suffered a nasal bone fracture, swollen jaw and several bruises while Raidu's right arm was broken and shoulder dislocated.
The duo have been admitted into a hospital in Klang. Ganapathirao will be discharged later today.
Ganapathirao, a former senior Hindraf leader once detained under the Internal Security Act, claimed the assailants were unhappy with him and Raidu (below) for organising the MIV rally last Sunday that attracted 1,000 Indians to voice their support for Pakatan Rakyat.
“There were only two of us last night. We were attending a funeral at Taman Mutiara, Jalan Meru. We met the three attackers who were chatting at the middle the road some 50m away from the house.
“I know one of them because he had approached me two years ago asking me to join BN.
"He said we are now ‘taiko’ (big brother) after organising the MIV rally. I replied that they are cheats and traitors.
“I tried to walk away but one of them, armed with a car steering lock, hit me first.
"My elder brother tried to protect me but was attacked by the other two. My nasal bone was broken, my glasses fell, and my nose was bleeding until my clothes were all red.
“There were continuous punches and kicks. They attacked us with metal rods and a plastic chair,” Ganapathirao claimed.
The trio also broke the windscreen of his car before leaving the scene in a car.
ALL THESE VIOLENCE HAS BEEN REPORTED TO THE POLICE!
Will there be justice for these people?
Will our PM speak up against these violence?
Why not?
The quality of our top Policemen is scary!
DAP vs MCA which allows greater freedom?
However they offered him a new post on the Penang state think-tank.
But Tunku threw the offer back in the face of Lim Guan Eng and even insulted him.
How did Lim Guan Eng response to this?
“I do not wish to exchange personal attacks with Tunku but wish to put on record the party’s appreciation for his contribution for the four years he has been the DAP’s national vice-chief,” he said.
In the end Tunku Abdul Aziz Tunku Ibrahim resign himself and started supporting Najib while shooting DAP.
How about MCA?
16 May 2012: The MCA disciplinary board has suspended the membership of Indera Mahkota division Youth chief David Choi for three years.
Choi is known for his strong stance against the Lynas rare earths refinery, which is being built in Gebeng, Pahang.
Board chairperson Michael Chen (left) told Chinese newspaper Sin Chew Daily that Choi can appeal against the decision.
The board had summoned Choi to defend himself against 20 complaints, including breaking ranks over the Lynas issue and damaging the reputation of Indera Mahkota MCA division head Pang Tsu Ming.
Despite objections from within the party, the outspoken Youth leader had taken part in the anti-Lynas street protest last year in Kuantan, as well as the Himpinan Hijau 3.0 rally last month in Kuala Lumpur.
These are actual facts. Judge for yourself!

If Najib and the Defence Minister has nothing to hide....
“Who are they to issue a warrant of arrest? We are not subjected to French laws,” he said at a press conference after an official visit by the Thai army chief at the Defence Ministry, aired in full by Mob.tv.
Ahmad Zahid (right) was asked to comment on the statement made by French lawyer Joseph Breham, who is representing human rights NGO Suaram in the civil case on the submarine buys at the French courts.
Breham had said that the presiding judge has the power to issue an international arrest warrant if a subpeona is rejected, including putting out a “red alert” with Interpol.
Ahmad Zahid, who previously said he was willing to testify, later said that neither he or anyone from his ministry will cooperate with the inquiry.
The next day, Lawyer Joseph Brehem, rebutted Defence Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s statement that the French courts have no jurisdiction over Malaysians.
“French courts have jurisdiction on anyone, being French or not, as soon as they are involved in a matter the courts are inquiring on. To say otherwise is either misleading or erroneous,” Brehem (right in photo) said in a statement issued by Suaram
If the witness refuses to abide by the subpoena, the court can issue a notice mandat d'amener, compelling the witness to appear before it. If the witness (still) fails to oblige, a warrant of arrest may be issued.
“The warrant of arrest is applicable within the French territory, and may be internationalised if the judge deems it necessary,” said Brehem.
PM Najib Razak and Zahid should just cooperate if they are subpoenaed by the inquiry to save the country from further embarrassment, especially if they have nothing to hide.
In fact, Zahid and Najib should voluntarily come forward to clear matters up and uphold truth and justice as exemplary ministers and senior leaders of the country.
Otherwise this will be seen as a clear sign of guilt!
Prove that Najib always keep his PROMISE!
The next time Najib talks about the opposition not keeping their promise, maybe he should watch this clip to remind himself that he himself is willing to lie outright just to please the crowd!
As we can see in the video, Najib had promise the protestors that he would meet with them later just so that he can shut them up!
However Malaysiakini had reported the following...
"...eyewitnesses present told Malaysiakini that they were subject to stringent security checks, with metal scanners and body searches included, besides their photographs being taken and personal details recorded before they could enter the venue.
Asked why these measures were taken, the crowd was told they may receive “ang pow” from Najib if they put down their particulars.
Some of the attendees also claimed that besides the strong security presence, members of the police Special Branch also took pictures of the crowd.
As Najib began his speech even as the protesters shouted "Bersih, bersih, bersih," the premier began to look a little flustered and pleaded with the crowd to “please stop”.
He promised them that they could speak to him later.
An eyewitness saw a protester who refused to leave being manhandled and forcibly thrown out of the hall by security personnel.
“The protester is said to have sprained his ankle. Special Branch officers and Najib’s bodyguards also approached a number of protesters and escorted them out.

NST Caught Lying for its political masters!
In a statement published on the NST website today, the daily said it had made a "grave error" in publishing the statements in the article.
"We accept that in his speech in the Australian Parliament referred to in the article, Mr Xenophon did not use the word 'Islam' and neither did he assert that Islam is not a religious organisation nor a criminal organisation hiding behind its religious belief.
"For the above reason, we hereby retract all the statements contained in the article against Mr Xenophon and unreservedly and unconditionally apologise to him for any distress or embarrassment caused by the article.
"As a further mark of our contrition, we have also removed the article from our online version of the newspaper with immediate effect," reads the statement.
French prosecutors: Najib sought US$1bil for Perimekar
According to prosecution papers revealed by NGO Suaram today, a fax shows that Najib had asked for the amount for Perimekar as a condition for a meeting with him on July 14, 2001.
The fax, dated June 1, 2001 was from Francois Dupont, the Malaysian representative for private company Thales Asia International, to one D Arnaud.
The document, one of 153 shown to Suaram, was seized by French police from the office of Henri Gide, an officer with Thales.
Instead, the NGO, which is pursuing a civil complaint against state-owned DCN for allegedly paying 114 million euros in defence kickbacks to Perimekar, provided media with notes from its French interpreter.
According to the notes, Dupont had in the fax detailed out the chronology of visits and future actions during a visit to Malaysia, including details of “negotiation meetings with the Ministry of Defence and the management members of Perimekar”.
“(In the negotiations) two contract proposals would be mentioned (from DCNI to Perimekar as well as between Perimekar and the Malaysian government).
“(Dupont) finally indicated a meeting with Datuk Seri Najib in France on July 14, 2001 with the condition that DCNI offers a maximum sum of US$1 billion for Perimekar’s stay (in France),” it reads.
Razak Baginda’s company paid 360,000 euros
The invoice states that 359,450 euros (RM1.43 million) was to be paid into a bank in Petaling Jaya, while a handwritten note on the fax reads:
“Razak demande si ce SF peut etre pris en compte assez vite. Le Support Fee suit avec un rapport (Razak is asking whether the SF can be paid into the account quite urgently. The support fee follows with a report.)”
However, Suaram director Cynthia Gabriel said the prosecutors were still trying to determine whether the ‘Razak’ stated in the note refers to Najib or Abdul Razak.
‘The Great Malaysian Robbery’
Referring to the case as “the Great Malaysian Robbery”, Gabriel said the prosecutors also found “a slew of companies” had been formed to muddy the money trail.
“More retro-commissions have surfaced, allowing the misuse of bodies such as a pilgrimage fund (Lembaga Tabung Haji) and the military pension fund (Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera).
“The Malaysian and French people have clearly been misled, cheated and robbed of their monies through blatant corruption and mismanagement of funds in the name of national safety and security,” Gabriel (right) said.
As such, Suaram demanded that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission open investigation papers on these new revelations and for the Malaysian government to cooperate with the French inquiry.
It also demands that the Defence Ministry lists out to Parliament the companies involved in the procurement process involving DCN and the commissions paid.

Reflection of BERSIH 3.0
1. Hishammuddin is a BIG FAT LIAR!
This contradicts Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein’s claim that the seizure of journalists’ equipment while covering Saturday’s Bersih 3.0 rally was part of police SOP.
Yesterday, Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said that the camera and memory cards belonging to journalists were seized as part of the SOP.
- Even Zan Azlee a freelance journalist who has been to Afghanistan (right), Lebanon and South Thailand to shoot documentaries said that he had never felt as intimidated as he was at Bersih 3.0 in Kuala Lumpur last Saturday.
Zan figured something was amiss by early evening when he noticed that many police officers had taken off their name tags. And then he saw gangs of them beating up protestors.
He talks about how journalists got assaulted for shooting pictures and videos of police brutality. He himself was manhandled, hauled in and briefly detained by the police.
After he was released, as he walking towards his car, Zan noticed a number of people lying unconscious on the street as ambulances came to pick them up one by one.
- The Sun Reporter Radzi Razak and etc
Satellite TV network Astro has admitted to censoring the BBC news report on the Bersih 3.0 rally it aired last Saturday "to comply with the national content regulations".
In a statement emailed to Malaysiakini from Al Jazeera English's head office in Doha, Qatar, the network said Astro has to date not informed them about the possible cuts made to its news programmes.
"Our news report was a factual account of events that day, and intrusion in our editorial process is unwarranted. We have not been censored in this way by another distribution platform anywhere in the world," it said
5. Traffic Police officer pulling his gun on civilians!
An eyewitness has come forward to reveal that a traffic police officer had pulled out his gun and aimed it at a protester during Bersih 3.0 last Saturday.
According to KL Lai, the police officer pointed his gun at a protester at Jalan Esfahan after another officer crashed his patrol car into protesters.
“I saw a protester freeze and put his hands up. The traffic police officer had his back on me.
This is what our Police force has come down to thanks to Hishammuddin!!
We need to be ready for Bersih 4.0 to save our country!!!!
